In 1995, Goodie Mob dropped “Cell Therapy” on Soul Food, and CeeLo Green delivered a verse that sounds almost too familiar 31 years later.

He questioned gated communities, surveillance, drugs, curfews, government control and whether increased “security” could eventually become another way of restricting freedom.

One line still hits hard: “Was [the] gate…put up to keep the crime out or keep our ass in?”

Now look at America in 2026: cameras everywhere, facial recognition, phones tracking locations, gated neighborhoods, gentrification and constant debates over privacy, policing and government power.

Not every fear or conspiracy mentioned in the song became reality. But the bigger message aged beautifully: pay attention, question power and understand what’s happening around you.

Was CeeLo a space traveler? 🛸😂 Probably not.

Maybe he simply knew the truth, studied the world around him and had the courage to put reality on wax.
