Being where you're supposed to be has a way of bringing unexpected gifts. A guest who travels the friendly skies recently returned from Guatemala with 140 grams of Santa Ana (Rosa de Jamaica) and a zip of sapote tea, giving me the opportunity to experience—and now share—a tradition that's been enjoyed for generations.
Rosa de Jamaica (Santa Ana) is a vibrant hibiscus tea rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. Many people enjoy it to support heart health, healthy blood pressure, hydration, and overall wellness.
Sapote tea, traditionally made from the leaves of the sapote tree, is valued as a naturally calming herbal tea. It's commonly enjoyed to promote relaxation, support digestion, and provide a soothing end to the day.
The tea is only part of the story. It traveled from Guatemalan hands to an international traveler, then to my kitchen, where it can now be shared with friends and family. That's what community looks like—people, cultures, and traditions connecting across borders.
A single cup of tea reminds us that what unites us is often stronger than what divides us. From Guatemala to the United States, kindness, culture, and tradition continue to travel—one person, one conversation, and one cup at a time.
