Born April 1, 2001, Sklouchere Pierre may be an April Fool’s baby, but there’s nothing foolish about her journey. And forget fool’s gold—this Haitian queen is golden by every measure.

Real gold doesn’t rush. It doesn’t lose its value because the road gets difficult. It survives pressure, keeps its brilliance and becomes even more valuable with time. That sounds a lot like Sklouchere.

A proud Haitian-American, Sklouchere has built a résumé that moves from the classroom to community service, professional dance floors and international pageant stages. She became the first Haitian-American captain of Florida Memorial University’s Lion Essence Dance Team, later danced professionally with the Miami HEAT, and has worked as a marketing consultant and social-media manager.
