NYC GRANDMOTHER FOUND DEAD IN LAS VEGAS — BUT QUESTIONS REMAIN
What was supposed to be a trip to Las Vegas ended in heartbreak for the family of Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old grandmother from Brooklyn, New York.
Goods disappeared on August 8 after leaving the home of a longtime friend to go shopping. Her family says she made it to a CVS near Paradise Road and East Harmon Avenue — then the trail went cold. (Channel 13 Las Vegas News KTNV)
The situation became even more disturbing when Goods’ family reportedly began receiving strange messages from her phone asking for money and Bitcoin. Her relatives said the messages didn’t sound like her, adding another mystery to her disappearance. (People.com)
After nearly two weeks of searching, Goods was found dead early August 20 near Terminal 1 at Harry Reid International Airport.
Police say surveillance footage from August 8 appears to show Goods falling down an embankment, getting back up and later collapsing, with no further movement observed. Her location reportedly could not be seen from the street. (Channel 13 Las Vegas News KTNV)
But major questions remain: How did she end up near the airport? Who was sending messages from her phone? And exactly what caused her death?
Authorities have not publicly announced an official cause or manner of death. (New York Post)
Goods’ family says their hearts are broken as they mourn a mother, grandmother and loved one while still looking for answers.
DA FRONT PORCH TAKE:
Finding Alisa ends the search, but it doesn’t end the questions. Her family deserves clarity about what happened during those final hours.
