1. What is your name and where you are from?My
name is Evan Snider but I am becoming more widely known by my nickname
DeeZy or my stage name Unkl Dadi. I am from the small rural town of
Philippi in the great state of West Virginia.
2. What are your early memories of hiphop?
My
earliest memories of Hip Hop is when my sister got the Tupac All Eyez
On Me album. I remember taking her CD and listening to the whole album
front to back. I was blown away by the descriptive details of life
through the struggle. Many of the stories I could relate to, many I
could not, but all of them resonated deeply with me. It was the first
time I was really introduced to reality based music, the true grit and
honesty of Hip Hop. I was immediately hooked.
3. How can people find you online?
I
can be found on all social media outlets at UnklDadi304 and I just took
down my old website and I am currently in the process of completely
rebuilding my new website from scratch.
4. What are your past projects and what are your working on now?
Over
the past year I have released two albums titled the 1ST15 EP and the
DeeZy LP. I released the 2nd project on Oct 10, 2015 and I have a few
videos to be released from this album. I am receiving my Bachelors
Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in May of
2016 and I will be returning to achieve my Masters Degree. I currently
have an internship with ONElive Talent Buying Agency helping with the
management, touring, and promotions behind 3 bands and also helping with
the live events and entertainment booking done by ONElive here in
Orlando.
5. What 3 things make you stand out as an artist?
As
artists we all have our qualities that make us stand out amongst our
competitors. I pride myself in being a humble West Virginia boy, a
combat veteran, and Hip Hop entrepreneur who started from scratch. I aim
to bring together the traditional Appalachian sound of West Virginia
and the modern reality street sound of Hip Hop by blending them into a
rural country based reality Hip Hop that tell the story of the
Appalachian struggles.
6. What makes you a hustler?
This
question could be answered in so many ways. I believe a hustler does
not need to introduce himself. If someone truly hustles you probably
already know about them. I believe what makes me a hustler is that most
people recognize me for my hustle before I ever introduce myself to
them.
7. What is it like growing up where you're from?
West
Virginia is one of the most beautiful places on earth. From the color
changing leaves in the fall, to the mountains and streams West Virginia
has some amazing sights to be seen. Growing up in a small West Virginia
town is much different from larger Urban areas. In my hometown there was
not much diversity and thinking outside the box was considered "risky"
and "rebellious." Many people slip into the typical 9-5 lifestyle, but I
have hope of providing alternative opportunities for those who seek
more.
8. Any last words or shout outs?
I
would like to begin by thanking you for this interview and for giving
me the opportunity to speak with your followers, and secondly I want to
give a big shout out to all of the other artist across the state of West
Virginia! I see these guys out here grinding and doing their thing! WV
Hip Hop is a team and together we can build a booming entertainment
industry in our home state. Hip Hop is the only genre in the music
industry that has artist firmly representing where they are from and
putting their state on the map. Together we will do just that for WV!
9. What's been your high and low point since being in the entertainment business?
Building
everything from the ground up has caused me to run into a few
situations where I have been taken advantage of. Not knowing any better
and not having a keen sense for snakes in the industry, their have been
times I have invested in people only to be left with terrible work or
left with absolutely nothing in return. Some people are in the industry
for the money and nothing else. Those people will do anything to get
your money and will leave you high and dry once they receive it. Do your
research and invest in reputable brands. With that said there have been
many high points as well. I believe the highest point of my career in
the entertainment industry is when I was able to do my first show in my
hometown of Philippi, WV. It was a dream of mine for my whole life and
when it finally happened a large portion of the down was in attendance.
