HAZEL AMARI: SAVINGS LIVES & FACES

Posted by da Front Porch on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 Under: Services
1. What is your name? Hazel Amari (pronounced Hay-Zul  Uh-Ma-Ree)
2. Can you tell us about where you are from? Well I was born in New York City , Raised in Bridgetown Barbados. I'm a city girl for the most part .
3. Tell us about your life as a make up artist? I wouldn't really classify myself as an MUA . I'm just a makeup enthusiast meaning someone who loves makeup and I'm passionate about it.
4. What do you do in the medical field? I'm a Medical Assistant , soon transferring over to be an EMT.
5. How important is having an education?  It's very important to have an education, that's one thing that many of our fellow African Americans may fail to realize. We didn't always have the opportunity to sit in a classroom setting and learn, to actually think about it we were just becoming privileged & in all honesty we aren't even completely privileged to do anything, it comes with stereotypes and racism to this VERY PRESENT DAY!. At one point in time we were looked upon as property. If that's not degrading enough, then I don't even know what is. It's important to have an education because if anything was to be taken from us , one thing they cannot take is your knowledge!!
6. How can people reach you online? People can reach me online via Instagram : @hazelamari , Twitter @vlluree or emailing me hazeltheemodel@gmail.com ✨.
7. What do you want to see changed in your community? Gentrification by the privileged whites. I want the blacks in my community to wake up and realize what is going on around them and not be so blind to it. I'm not saying any of this to be racist but it honestly frustrates me when someone sharing the same messed up history as me is completely dummy downed and completely blind to what's REALLY going on around them.
8. What is a hustler? A hustler in my eyes would have to be someone with a lot of drive inside of them, the desire to want better for themselves and actually puts forth effort to make it happen. Someone who doesn't limit themselves to anything. If they put their mind to it, they can do it.
9. What is your meaning of success?
Meaning of success for me would have to be when you overcame each and every fear you ever had, whether it's small or big, also if you can look back and see how far you've came and be content with it but want more.

10. What is your meaning of being successful?
Success isn't determined by the dollar amount, it's your ambition and mindset that makes it count.

10. How do you deal with haters?
I don't , I ignore them. That's negative energy that I cannot reciprocate back , so I ignore them.
